SATURNALIA VILLAGE ROOMS
Saturnalia Village Rooms is the new hospitality offering from Fattoria La Maliosa, located in the heart of the quaint Tuscan village of Saturnia. Inside the “Dimora Ximenes,” a completely renovated historic building from the 1600s, the five rooms blend country-chic charm with contemporary design touches. The total renovation has preserved the building’s rich history while ensuring its sustainability. Local materials, such as stone, chestnut beams, and brick, were carefully integrated, and efforts were made to eliminate plastic throughout, demonstrating a ‘commitment to tradition and the environment.
This charming venue offers a unique blend of historic architecture and modern comforts, with a refined and welcoming style. The five bright and spacious double rooms, all with king-size beds and private bathrooms, provide maximum comfort. Guests can also relax in the communal living room, which includes a fully equipped kitchen, perfect for enjoying breakfast or a light snack. Fresh water and coffee are always available free of charge.
Saturnalia Village Rooms is the perfect base for exploring the Maremma and offers a variety of unique experiences. Guests can immerse themselves in the Tuscan farm lifestyle, sample natural wines and olive oils, relax in the nearby hot springs or enjoy a meal at the Saturnalia Wine Bar in the village square. A short drive away, it is also possible to discover some of Italy’s most beautiful villages, such as Pitigliano, Sovana, Montemerano and Sorano.
Rooms
All rooms at Saturnalia Village Rooms feature a very comfortable king-size bed, air conditioning, private bathroom, large walk-in showers with cascading “Grohe” spouts, fine faucets from “Rubinetterie Fiorentine” , smart flat-screen TV and convenient wardrobe. Home automation is studied in detail, allowing easy and immediate access to the room.
On the second floor you will find the first room: “Lavender” has convenient access to the common room and kitchen. With an area of about 18 square meters, this room is perfect for those looking for an intimate and functional environment. On the second floor we find the other four rooms: “Sage” and “Rosemary” are bright and cozy, with an area of about 15 square meters. The two rooms offer views overlooking the village of Saturnia, and in the distance it will be possible to catch a glimpse of the Maremma hills. The “Poppy” room is extremely cozy, with an area of about 18 square meters. Very quiet, it offers a peaceful and relaxing environment. Finally, there is the “Girasole,” our largest room, with an area of about 21 sq. m. and 3 beds. It offers a splendid view of the square of Saturnia. The ancient plane tree that gives coolness to the wine bar courtyard is located in front of the window of the Girasole, creating an environment rich in nature and tranquility.
PALAZZO XIMENES
The Palazzo Ximenes, dating back to the early 17th century, during the rule of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, led by the Medici family, was entrusted to Marquis Sebastiano Ximenes of Aragon. This building, which today houses the Saturnalia Wine Bar & Village Rooms, was part of the large farmhouse that surrounded the main square of the village of Saturnia, where around 25 inhabitants lived at the time.
Over the centuries, the building has undergone various renovations. In 2021, it was acquired by the La Maliosa group, which carried out a careful restoration, preserving the historicity of the palazzo by using high quality materials that respected the historicity of the dwelling: clay for the structural part and for the soundproofing, cement-based paints, and fixtures and furnishings handmade by local craftsmen in solid wood. In 2023, the Saturnalia Wine Bar was opened on the ground floor, and in 2024 the Saturnalia Village Rooms were opened on the upper floor.
Palazzo Ximenes is now ready to welcome guests from all over the world, offering a refined and cosy ambience, ideal for a stay or even just a short break to relax while tasting a natural wine from La Maliosa.
THE NEST
The charm apartment ‘The Nest in Maremma Tuscany’ is a cozy and hospitable ‘nest’, located a short distance from the historic villages of Montemerano, Pitigliano and Saturnia with its thermal baths.
Sleeping 5, consisting of two comfortable hotel-level suites is located on the ground floor of a typical Tuscan farmhouse with exposed stone, quiet, nestled in the green Poderi di Montemerano. Designer furnishings with country-chic finishes and all the comforts of a “boutique hotel.”
